Just like what she did in the previous rounds, Rufa Mae Quinto instantly sent the jury to riotous laughter the very moment that she stepped out of the “iconator” as Moira Dela Torre in the fourth round of “Your Face Sounds Familiar”
Clad in a preppy attire with shimmers on her face, the Comedy Bombshell lulled us with her rendition of the OPM hugot hitmaker’s chart-topping song “Paubaya,” which even made hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario “sleep” on the celebrity performers’ couch.
Although she indeed kept in mind everything that mentors Klarisse de Guzman and Nyoy Volante had told her, it was apparently difficult and impossible for Rufa Mae not to unleash her playful personality, as seen in the latter part of her act. She further amused everyone by staying in character even after her performance, speaking in a hushed voice and moving very minimally. Aside from making her do a spontaneous acting challenge ala-Moira, the hosts also dared her to keep portraying the singer until the end of Week 4 for her to be able to secure her 1 point.
Megastar Sharon Cuneta may have found it hard to control herself from laughing as she delivered her comment on Rufa Mae’s performance, yet she commended her for the palpable effort that she had exerted to be in control, knowing how naturally spontaneous and energetic she actually is.
Nyoy declared that, for him, it was her best performance out of all the icons that she had taken on in the show, while Klarisse expressed how proud she is of her for being able to pull off her portrayal of Moira.
OPM chief Ogie Alcasid may have always picked on her since Week 1, but he went on to give her valuable advice in this episode, as he observed how she tended to get out of character everytime she performs. He told her to just focus on her act and completely imbibe her icon, as well as agreed that it was indeed her best performance so far.
