Singer-songwriter Maki treated his fans to a one-of-a-kind celebration as he held a release party for his album "Kolorcoaster" in an amusement park, where rides were tied to the colorful themes of his music.
“Today is a party. It’s a party, album party for my album that I released last September 19,” Maki said, opening up about the inspiration behind his newest record.
Released last September 19, "Kolorcoaster" features 10 tracks that explore the different “colors of love.” Among the songs are "Dilaw," "Namumula," "Bughaw," and "Kahel na Langit."
Maki shared that the concept began naturally with his song "Dilaw" before evolving into a full album that merges his love for both art and music.
“I wrote 'Dilaw' ‘yung unang-una and then I realized na parang I just really love art in general. So, why not incorporate my art and my music in one place… merge ko sila.” he said.
For the release party, Maki went beyond just performing as he also faced his fear of rollercoasters for his fans.
“Actually, for someone who wrote 'Kolorcoaster' as the title, I don’t really ride roller coasters. Pero ngayong araw, na-challenge akong mag-roller coaster for my fans also. Kasi bawat ride kasi ‘yung color ng song,” he said with a laugh.
The album also marked an emotional milestone for Maki as he reflected on his journey in the music industry.
“Ako, personally talaga as an artist, hindi ko naman po sasabihin na hindi ko siya pinangarap. Talagang pinapangarap ‘to ng maraming tao na maraming susuporta… It started with my family, my friends, and my team. And now we’re here, it feels very fulfilling,” he said.
Maki is now preparing for the biggest concert of his career -- his first solo show at the Araneta Coliseum on November 7.
“Hanggang ngayon weird pa siya sa akin na magko-concert ako ng solo sa Araneta. But I’m taking it as if my whole team and me and a lot of my supporters waited for this moment na mag-gather kami at the Big Dome,” Maki said.
The singer added that he is focused on working out, improving his stamina, and preparing a visually innovative show.
“If you were to have a concert at the Big Dome, dapat kayanin mo all throughout. Consistent. Dapat ‘yung performance ko, deserve ng fans. So yeah, ang dami naming inaayos visually because this concert is also a visual concert,” he said.
Maki teased that he will be joined by several guest performers but opted to keep their names a surprise.
“Madami kaming guests pero ‘di ko muna sasabihin,” he said.
With "Kolorcoaster" already painting his artistry in vibrant hues, Maki is set to take fans on an even bigger ride at the Big Dome this November.
