Singer-songwriter Maki released his much-anticipated debut album "KOLORCOASTER" on Friday, September 19.
The 10-track record features his four previously released hit singles—“Dilaw,” “Namumula,” “Bughaw,” and “Kahel na Langit”—along with six new tracks: “Turning Green,” “INDIGO (with u),” “Nangungulila,” “Itim na Ulap,” “Abelyana,” and “ROYGBIV.”
In a previous interview with MJ Felipe in "Are You G?", Maki explained that the album’s concept revolves around colors as it is by his love for the arts.
“I dug deeper sa kung ano ang gusto kong mangyari na mga next track tapos sabi ko sa sarili ko why not colors kasi mahilig naman ako sa arts? And I'm a huge advocate po sa mga Filipino artists as well na don't have enough opportunities. Gusto ko po mabigyan sila ng spotlight as well sa album na 'to. Actually, ang dami pong artists kaming hinire for all the visual arts po na nalalagay ngayon," he said.

Maki explained that “turning green” serves as the counterpart to his hit “Namumula.” Drawing from color theory where red and green are opposites, he said the song still carries the “red flag” element, with the ex-partner symbolizing the red flag. However, this time it conveys regret from someone who failed to realize that the grass was not greener on the other side.
Meanwhile, he shared that “INDIGO (with u)” symbolizes uncertainty, likening it to entering a tunnel without knowing what lies ahead. For him, the song represents taking risks despite the unknown, as long as he is with the person he wrote the song for.
Just hours after the album dropped, ABS-CBN Music’s Tarsier Records announced that “Abelyana” debuted at #1 on Spotify’s New Music Friday Philippines playlist with Maki gracing the cover for the playlist on Spotify.
“INDIGO (with u),” on the other hand, is featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday across Asia such as in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea, and Thailand. It is also included on Pop Rising Singapore & Malaysia.

Before the release, Maki shared behind-the-scenes photos from the music videos of “Dilaw” with BINI Maloi Ricalde, “Namumula” with "Showtime Online U" host Jannah Chua and “Bughaw” with HORI7ON's Kyler, Zeke Abella, and Alexei Claire while revealing how the project took two years to complete.
“This album might be the most challenging thing I ever did in my life but also the most fulfilling one. God knows how much me and everyone who helped create this project, worked hard and gave pieces of our hearts inside this album, this story, this world. KOLORCOASTER WILL BE YOUR,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Maki is also gearing up for his "KOLORCOASTER The Concert" happening on November 7, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
