Kapamilya actress Sofia Andres opened up about how her role in The Alibi: Ang Buong Katotohanan resonated deeply with her and how it challenged her to grow further as an actress.
On The Alibi, she plays Claudia Cabrera, the wife of Vincent Cabrera (Paulo Avelino), who gets involved in the mystery surrounding the murder of her affair partner, Walter Cunanan (Sam Milby).
Sofia admitted that her character did not immediately appeal to her, but what caught her attention was that Claudia was a mother. “That’s how I fell in love with the character. Also, kasi meron siyang pamilyang prinotektahan,” she shared, noting how she relates to Claudia on a deeper level as a mom herself.
She described her character as fierce, strong, and unfiltered — qualities that made the role both exciting and demanding. Beyond the intensity of the character, Sofia reveals that portraying Claudia broadened her perspective on relationships and personal growth. One realization that stood out for her was learning that love cannot be forced, especially when people begin to grow in different directions.
But if there was one piece of advice she would give to her character, it would be: It’s okay to not be okay.
Even with Claudia’s complex and intense character, Sofia said she’s open to more antagonist roles. One driving factor that made her open to more acting roles is her co-stars, who inspire her. She further shared that The Alibi drove her to grow as an actress and to learn more.
“Siguro yung intense scenes and of course the kilig scenes as well para balance naman. I’m just gonna prepare myself sa mga bashers talagang nanggigil talaga sila. Even me myself, nanggigigil ako kay Claudia so what more yung mga audience?” Sofia said that she looks forward to her fans seeing more of Claudia’s character in the show.
