Karen Davila and Bianca Gonzalez were just a few of the celebrities who expressed their disappointment over the comments made by Quezon City Congressman Bong Suntay about Anne Curtis. On their X (formerly Twitter) accounts, the Kapamilya celebrities shared how distasteful the comments were, especially since they were made during Women’s Month.

The lawmaker shared during the March 3 House justice committee hearing on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte that he had “desires” to see Anne in public.

“Lastly, alam mo naman minsan nasa Shangri-la ako. Nakita ko si Anne Curtis–– ang ganda ganda pala niya. You know, may desire so loob ko na nag init talaga at naimagine ko nalang kung anong pwedeng mangyari pero siyempre hanggang imagination nalang yun. Pero, di naman siguro ako kasuhan dahil kung ano-ano yung naimagine ko eh. Thank you very much, Madam Chair,” Bong shared.

His comments were moved to be stricken from the official record by San Juan Lone District Representative Ysabel Maria J. Zamora who wasn’t pleased by the comments her fellow lawmaker made.

Karen, who reposted the viral statement, expressed how the Quezon City Congressman should’ve kept his “sick thoughts” to himself. She added how the politician has children as well and is a public servant.

“A congressman. A representative of the people. Paid by the people. A husband, a father with daughters. Without the consciousness, knowledge or decency of how women should be talked about.  Please keep your sick thoughts to yourself,” Karen shared.

For the veteran broadcaster, she asserted that he should apologize to Anne for the comments he made, especially during Women’s Month.

“More than striking his comments off the record, he should apologize. Women’s Month pa talaga,” she ended.

Bianca, on the other hand, urged everyone to stop normalizing this kind of behavior. She expressed her disgust over the comments the politician made.

“Please let us NOT NORMALIZE THIS BEHAVIOR. DISGUSTING, especially for a public servant,” Bianca wrote.

Other celebrities have also spoken up about the issue and shared their disappointment in the comment section of the video. Netizens have also shared how disgusted they are by Congressman Bong’s sentiments and called him out on social media.

“Talagang kamanyakan ang nauna sa isip? What is wrong with people nowadays. And they’re trusted by others to be in the position they’re in?” Daiana Menezes expressed.

Meanwhile, Anne has yet to release an official statement following the remarks made about her.
