More celebrities and personalities have expressed support for Anne Curtis following what they described as “disgusting” remarks made by Quezon City Representative Bong Suntay.
On X, Anne’s fellow It’s Showtime host Amy Perez did not hold back in defending the actress.
“I’m so disappointed Mr. Representative,” Amy first posted. “Disgusting talaga! 🤮🤮🤮.”
She followed it up with a post about respecting women. “Basic respect for women involves recognizing their inherent dignity, equality, and agency as human beings, not just polite courtesy. It requires active listening, valuing their opinions, ensuring their safety from objectification or harassment. #womensmonth”
Amy also stressed: “Hindi ito usapin kung kakampink ka o dds ka o uniteam ka ang point ay may BABAE na nabastos sa isip at salita! Tanong lang ikaw gusto mo ba na yung Nanay mo, Ate mo, Tita mo at pinsan mo na babae ay pag isipan ng ganun? Wag nating piliting maging tama ang isang mali.”
Kapuso actress Gabbi Garcia also expressed how objectifying women is unacceptable. “If you hold power, act like it. Objectifying women, even in passing remarks is unacceptable. We are not here to be reduced to someone’s imagination. NAKAKADIRI.”
Pinoy Big Brother host Bianca Gonzalez also condemned the statement, saying: “Please let us NOT NORMALIZE THIS BEHAVIOR. DISGUSTING, especially for a public servant.”
She added, “The fact that there is no remorse, no clue as to why what he said was offensive and inappropriate, and even commented in an interview that 'she should take my remark as a compliment' is what makes this disgusting comment even more disgusting.”
Actress Jodi Sta. Maria also pointed out the impact of the remarks towards women: “The analogy wasn’t malicious said the person who made the remark. But the impact was clear. It made people, most especially women feel disgusted and disrespected. If that kind of analogy was used to make a point it clearly reveals the mindset of the person who said it. That’s not something we should normalize.”
TV Patrol news anchor Karen Davila urged Representative Suntay to apologize to Anne after airing his “sick thoughts” towards the actress: “A congressman. A representative of the people. Paid by the people. A husband, a father with daughters. Without the consciousness, knowledge or decency of how women should be talked about. Please keep your sick thoughts to yourself. More than striking his comments off the record, he should apologize. Women’s Month pa talaga.”
Karen also called out the politician during the TV Patrol episode on March 3: “Dapat huwag na natin tanggapin yung biro biro lang. Ang tagal na natin tinanggap iyon na mali po iyon. Yung kultura na iyon, hindi okay iyon. Atsaka tandaan po ng mga kongresista na binabayaran kayo ng taong bayan. Hindi kayo nandyan para magpa-cute. Wala kaming pakialam sa init ng kalooban ninyo. Do your job well. Nakakagalit.”
Kapamilya actress and Anne’s close friend, Ange Locsin, couldn’t help but react to the politician’s disgusting words, writing: “Nak ng tokwa (face palm emoji) san ba yung pamalo….”
Actress Nadine Lustre also showed her support for Anne as she reposted a photo on Instagram from @linyalinya where it said: “NAKAKAINIT TALAGA. Nakakainit ng ulo at ng dugo ang mga taong walang habas na ipinangangalandakan ang kabastusan sa mga kababaihan.”
She also commented on a post of a video of the representative as he made the offensive remarks during the session. “May mga nakangiti at natatawa tawa pa. kadiri.”
Actress Bela Padilla weighed in as well, saying: “Hindi nga naman siguro pwedeng kasuhan yung imagination...pero pwede natin tandaan tong video na 'to for future reference.”
Ivana Alawi also said: “Position comes with responsibility. Lala mo.”
Among the other personalities who expressed disappointment while clamoring for an apology from the politician were John Lapus, Romnick Sarmenta, Ogie Alcasid, Atom Araullo, Yael Yuzon, Barbie Imperial, Senators Risa Hontiveros, Leila de Lima, Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Sarah Elago, and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.
Anne’s sister, actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith, also spoke out in a series of posts on X and Facebook. She said her reaction was not only about her sister but about women being reduced to bodies in spaces dominated by men in power.
“We cannot continue excusing this as 'just being honest' or 'just a compliment.' It is neither. Respect is not complicated. If we want safer environments for our daughters, nieces, and future leaders, accountability must begin with those elected to represent us," she expressed.

On Tuesday, March 3, Representative Bong Suntay verbalized his apparent “desire” towards Anne during a House justice committee hearing on the impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte.
“Alam niyo, minsan, minsan nasa Shangri-La ako. Nakita ko si Anne Curtis. Ang ganda-ganda pala niya. You know, may desire sa loob ko na nag-init talaga, na-imagine ko na lang kung ano’ng pwedeng mangyari, pero siyempre hanggang imagination na lang ‘yon. Pero ‘di naman siguro ako pwedeng kasuhan kung ano ang na-imagine ko eh,” he said.
Some of his fellow committee members immediately called him out and he later defended himself, saying that there was nothing “sexual” or “immoral” about his comments.
