Ogie Diaz shared that he recently exchanged messages with his former talent, Liza Soberano, marking their first communication in three years.
In an episode of Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update, Ogie revealed that the exchange happened after he tagged Liza in his birthday greeting for the actress on Instagram Stories on January 4.
In his birthday message, Ogie wrote: "Happy bday, Liza Soberano! Sana ma-achieve mo ang dream mo to make it big in Hollywood! Sana ay mapaligiran ka din ng mga tamang tao para mas mabilis mo siyang ma-achieve! Love you, Hopie!"
Ogie shared that Liza replied to his birthday greeting. "Alam mo, nag-message siya sa akin. Sumagot. Sabi niya, 'Thank you, Tito Ogie. I hope you and the family are doing well,'" he relayed.
The host then expressed his gratitude to Liza. "Thank you, Liza," he said. "I am so happy na okay kami ni Liza. Alam mo simpleng message niya or reply niya sa aking IG Story, naku malaking bagay 'yun sa akin. Sana one of these days magkita kami, mag-usap kahit off-cam, off the record."
He noted that this was their first interaction since ending their talent management engagement in 2022 and said it showed that there are no ill feelings on either side.
"Natuwa ako. Para mag-message ng ganun si Liza so wala siyang sama ng loob sa akin. Ako rin naman nung minessage ko siya, ay hindi wala na. Ang tatanda na namin, hindi ba? Kumbaga, ano 'yun magtatanim ka ba ng sama ng loob? Once upon a time, naging anak mo 'yan. Nabigyan ka rin naman ng magandang career because of Liza," he said.
The host also recalled how Liza had been instrumental in helping his daughter Miracle when she was hospitalized.
"Lagi ko namang sinasabi, if not for Liza, Diyos ko, 'yung aking anak na si Miracle, sa'n ko huhugutin 'yong mga panggastos sa ospital, 'di ba?" he said.
He added that if they were to meet again, he would be the first to approach her. "'Pag magkita kami diyos ko ako pa unang lalapit diyan," he said. "Actually sinabi ko sa kanya o 'pag gusto mo anak ng advice, sinabi ko sa aking message sa kanya, 'pag gusto mo ng advice, tungkol sa career o kung sa kung ano man, tungkol sa industry, tungkol saan man, eh nandito naman ako," he said.
