When she’s not busy working on projects or attending showbiz events here and abroad, Liza Soberano said nothing makes her the most happy than spending time with her pets when she’s just at home.
Aside from her dog Yuna, Liza also rescued a mama cat and four kittens last September after moving to the US. When asked how the decision of bringing her dog Yuna from the Philippines abroad changed her life for the better, Liza said it was an easy choice.
“Well, she keeps me company, obviously being in LA and living on my own, it can get pretty lonely and the fact that she’s there, it keeps me busy because you know, I have a responsibility to take care of her but also, I have a lot of fun with her. I go on hikes, I go to the dog park, I take care on little retreats, sometimes. And I don’t think I would be doing any of that otherwise if I didn’t keep her around. It’s a huge responsibility.
“When I got Yuna, I was here in the Philippines. I was very blessed to have a lot of support. I had people who helped me take care of her and so I didn’t really feel the weight of the responsibility when I first had Yuna. But when I moved to LA and because I am living on my own, I had to take responsibility for doing everything for her, walking her, washing her, feeding her, and everything,” Liza shared during the Prof. Bengal launch held earlier this month in Pasay City.

On top of helping her keep the blues away, Liza said her pet also changed her into a better person. “But also I think she’s just taught me to be so much more loving. She’s just a sweetheart and she’s just so genuine and kind. She makes me so happy. And because of that, I feel like I have so much love and care to give. Which is exactly why I rescued five cats (laughs). I keep on saying it, but I’m really obsessed with my cats now. I never thought I would be a cat mom. I didn’t used to believe I like cats but now I’m obsessed with them,” she admitted.
During the Prof. Bengal event, Liza also admitted she would love to get the chance to work with Yuna onscreen someday. “Well, the opportunity hasn’t come my way yet But definitely if the opportunity presents itself, I would love to be in a movie or a TV show with Yuna because then, she would be immortalized forever in that film or TV show. No opportunities yet but, because I am now producing films, I might just put her in something (laughs),” she added.

Even though she is now based abroad where she is pursuing an international acting career, Liza said admitted she gladly flew back to Manila this month as a celebrity ambassador for a pet food brand she believes in.
“I’m really happy to be here today because as a visiting professor or faculty member, I have the opportunity to do a little bit of research and development on my own before Professor Bengal treats and food came out and I must say, my cats, they’re very picky, actually,” Liza relayed the challenges as a cat mom.
It was so difficult to feed them. But when they had the Professor Bengal paste treats, they definitely took a liking to it. And so they definitely gave it an A-plus,” she explained.
