ABS-CBN broadcast journalist Karen Davila was able to witness the Great Migration during her trip to Tanzania.
"THE GREAT ANIMAL MIGRATION! What a spiritual & surreal experience! We cried. We were in shock. Overwhelmed. Only God could do this!" she posted on her Instagram page.
Karen relayed that the phenomenon lasted for hours. "Described by the locals as one of the LARGEST RIVER CROSSINGS they have seen in recent years, this lasted more than 3 hours of hundreds of thousands of wildebeests crossing the Mara River, side of the Serengeti," she shared.
Sharing a clip of the animals crossing the Mara River, the Kapamilya journalist relayed that millions of animals cross the river annually. "Every year, an estimated 2 million wildebeest, zebra and other herbivores trek from Southern Serengeti to search for food & water in the lush greens of the Masai Mara. The most dangerous - crossing the Mara River where predators await," Karen said.
She concluded her post, saying: "Truly, a MUST SEE. Bless you Tanzania."

In another Instagram post, Karen also explored a World Heritage Site in Tanzania.
"The rawness of Tanzania hits different. Untouched in all its wild glory. A day at Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders! A UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world’s largest volcanic caldera with over 30,000 of the largest mammals. What a day!" she posted.
Karen is currently the anchor of TV Patrol on ABS-CBN and also the host of Headstart on ANC.
In a recent interview with Karmina Constantino on the KC After Hours podcast, Karen shared the life lessons from her parents that shaped her work ethic and mindset through the years.
"My dad told me noon nung papunta na ako ng college, 'Alam mo Karen, the only barrier to you and success is you. You cannot blame anybody. Kapag ikaw if you fail, you can't look at other things, you just have to look at what your role is in that,'" she recalled.
Karen went on: "Number 2, my mother told me: 'Karen wala akong mapapamana sa'yong alahas, pera, lupa, pero if you finish your schooling, you can be anything you want to be but nothing will be served to you on a silver platter. So parang I knew I wasn't entitled to anything. I think that was the mental resilience that I had when I started my career which was in GMA 7 by the way, then eventually I moved to [ABS-CBN]."
Karen has been working on television for three decades now.
