Veteran broadcaster Karen Davila shared a special moment with Nine Perfect Strangers star Dolly de Leon whom she considers a Filipino icon.
“[Twelve] - not ‘9 PERFECT STRANGERS’ to celebrate our dear @dollyedeleon, proudly Filipina kicking down Hollywood doors! Scene-stealer, barrier-breaker,” she captioned her Instagram post on Sunday, May 25.
Karen had the privilege to watch Dolly’s audition video for Triangle Of Sadness — the movie which earned for the latter Supporting Actress awards from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Guldbagge Awards in Sweden in 2023.

“A special moment — Dolly showed us her audition clip on her phone, for ‘Triangle Of Sadness’ her international breakout role [that] earned her an LA Critics Choice Award & a Golden Globe & BAFTA nomination! You make [us] so proud Dolly,” she wrote.
Dolly was the first Filipina in history to receive nominations at the prestigious Golden Globe Awards and British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards.

In her post, the broadcaster shared some photos of themselves at a dinner she hosted in her residence which was also attended by other celebrities including Iza Calzado, Alessandra De Rossi, and Alora Sasam.
ABS-CBN's President and CEO Carlo Katigbak was also spotted in the photos shared by Karen.
“What a joy to be around your authenticity, humility & light,” she told Dolly in her post’s caption.
According to Karen, it took a year for the dinner to finally push through.
In the post’s comment section, Dolly thanked Karen and her husband, DJ Sta. Ana, for organizing the dinner.
“Thank you for such a beautiful night with beautiful people, Karen and DJ,” Dolly expressed.
Meanwhile, Iza, who was also present at the dinner, also extended her gratitude to the couple.
“Such an insightful and inspiring evening with great people. Thank you for hosting this dinner for our National gem @dollyedeleon and having us in your lovely home @iamkarendavila and @djstaana,” Iza wrote.
In an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN, Dolly shared that despite her achievements, she still gets “starstruck” when meeting international stars.

“Yes I do, I still get starstruck. And I approach them looking starstruck. But then ang bilis maka-recover kasi sobrang bait nila eh. Sobrang down-to-earth nila na after a while, nagiging okay na ako. Nawawala na yung kaba ko!” she said, referring to her co-stars in Nine Perfect Strangers like Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, and Christine Baranaski, among others.
