Less than a month after receiving a well-deserved Loyalty Award at the Star Magical Christmas 2023 event, Gerald Anderson still can’t believe how his career has reached this far since joining the first teen edition of Pinoy Big Brother in 2006. Currently starring and producing in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Rekonek, Gerald talked about how he was feeling this month.
“I have mixed emotions. Grabe, 20 years na. I can’t believe it but sabi ko nga kay Jake (Cuenca), na, ‘Pare, how blessed are we? Na after 20 years, we still are blessed enough and privileged enough para magbigay ng entertainment para sa mga audience, nakakapagprovide pa tayo sa mga pamilya natin?’” he shared.
As a loyal Star Magic artist, the Rekonek star also added how proud he is of everything he has achieved by sticking with his talent management all this time. “Siyempre masaya kasi lahat nakakasama mo. Nagpapasalamat ka with everyone on the journey. You look back and say wow, 20 years na pala. It’s also a moment of being proud of yourself. Kasi parang ang dami ko ng pinagdaanan, ang dami ko ding linagpasan na challenges, ang dami kong roles na nagampanan. Ang dami. So it’s also a very proud moment para sa sarili ko,” he said.

Gerald, who is also known as the "Action-Drama Prince" of the country, admitted that it was his unique role in the 2011 series Budoy where he played a mentally challenged man that tops his list of most unforgettable projects throughout his career. “Yung Budoy at Tayong Dalawa, also my first soap Sana Maulit Muli. Being with Star Magic and Pinoy Big Brother. I’m very blessed kasi when I was on stage saying thank you (after accepting the Loyalty Award), nag-fla-flashback lahat ng mga highlights ng career ko,” he added.
Looking back after completing another busy year in his career, Gerald shared what he feels about all the opportunities still coming his way after more than two decades in the industry. “I’m grateful for work, for all the blessings, for this movie, for Sins of the Father, for new opportunities that I was able to do and able to direct. And good health.”
In his MMFF entry Rekonek, Gerald plays the role of Wes, a guy who is thinking about breaking up with his relationship with his girlfriend Kate (played by Charlie Dizon) until the entire world unexpectedly loses its internet ten days before Christmas. Also part of the ensemble cast of the Christmas themed film are Bela Padilla, Carmina Villarroel, Bela Padilla, Andrea Brillantes, Zoren Legaspi, Cassy Legaspi, Mavy Legaspi, Alexa Miro, Angel Guardian, Kokoy de Santos, Kelvin Miranda, Vance Larena, and Gloria Diaz.
