After going public with her relationship with Philippine national athlete Dean Michael Roxas earlier this year, singer Geneva Cruz could not be any prouder to play the role of supportive girlfriend as he represents the country again in the ongoing Southeast Asian Games in Thailand. Last December 12, Dean won the gold medal in the Jiu-Jitsu men’s ne-waza 85kg category after defeating Ee Aacus Hou Yu of Singapore.
In her Instagram post, Geneva paid tribute to her partner, who was already a gold medalist during the 2019 SEA Games. She wrote, “My patriotic Filipina heart is overflowing with pride! 🇵🇭 Mahal, you represented our country with so much strength and grace. I don’t know anyone more deserving of this gold because I know how hard you’ve worked. I think I sweated more just waiting for your turn than all the time you were on the mats competing. 😅 Beast mode-Dean!!! No one can bring a good man down. A true champion’s strength comes not just from skill but from hard work and heart as well. 🤍 I am incredibly proud of you. You did us proud, Mr. Roxas. I can’t wait to hug you! Salute! 🫡♥️🇵🇭”
In Dean’s post that same day, he revealed that Geneva had been at the forefront of his team of supporters throughout his entire journey towards the competition. He wrote on his account, “2025 SEA Games Gold Medalist 🥇 3 fights with 2 submissions and no points scored on me. Grateful to have performed at this level despite the challenges I encountered this year in both my personal and professional life.

In an earlier interview with ABS-CBN when she first opened up about her relationship with Dean, Geneva shared just how much he means to her. “This year is going to be extra special because I opened myself to love once again. I think that’s pretty special because for many years, since 2020, sarado talaga. But now I’m just really happier and grateful. He’s here and I’m very, very proud of him. He inspires me. He inspires me to be better in life here. I’m happier. Yun yung kaibahan ng Christmas ko this year. I’m more inspired.”
