Shuvee Etrata turned emotional in her Instagram post on November 10, as she shared how painful it was to see her hometown, Cebu, devastated by the recent typhoons. The former Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition housemate posted a series of photos capturing the heartbreaking aftermath of Typhoon Tino and Typhoon Uwan, showing neighborhoods covered in mud, overturned and piled-up cars, and the wreckage left behind by the storms.

In her caption, Shuvee began by reminiscing about her hometown: “Cebu isn’t just another place, it’s home. 💔,” she began.

“Alam niyo ba guys, I’ve always adored the sunset in my home. Sobra kaganda and palagi ko pinagyayabang,” she wrote.

She described the scenes that broke her heart. She shared that many Cebuanos have lost not only their homes and livelihoods but also their loved ones. “I carry Cebu with me wherever I go, kaya masakit makita ang kapwa ko Cebuanos maging biktima ng pinsala ng Typhoon Tino at Typhoon Uwan. It breaks my heart to see the images, hear the cries, and recognize the faces from my own community,” she said.

With the post, the “Island Ate ng Cebu” also called for unity and compassion: “Sa lahat po ng nasalanta at naapektuhan ng bagyo sa Cebu at sa iba pang parte ng bansa, dalangin ko na huwag po kayong mawalan ng pag-asa. Magtulungan po tayong bumangon,” she wrote.

She encouraged her followers to act with empathy and accountability, hoping that this time, recovery would mean more than just rebuilding what was lost. “Pero sana, this time, hindi lang tayo bumangon para masabing matatag tayo. Let’s rise with action and accountability — dahil hindi pwedeng paulit-ulit na lang ang kwento ng pagdurusa at kapabayaan.”

Shuvee ended her post with a plea for help. Alongside her message, she included QR codes and bank details of donation drives to make it easier for people to send assistance. “To my friends, followers, and everyone reading this — if you have even a little to give, please consider extending help. Some lost not just their homes and livelihood, but also their loved ones. A few pesos, a few cans, a few prayers — they matter. Together, let’s rebuild not just houses, but hope.”

Shuvee was born in her mother’s hometown on Bantayan Island, Cebu, where she spent her growing years before entering the showbiz industry.
