Alas Pilipinas Women absorbed a tough 19-25, 17-25, 19-25 loss at the hands of powerhouse Thailand to open their Leg 2 campaign in the 2026 SEA V Cup on Friday in Chiang Mai.
The Filipina spikers struggled to find their rhythm, as their Southeast Asian neighbor dominated all facets in scoring — 26-46 in attacks, 5-7 in blocks, and 1-11 in service aces.

It was a different performance against the Thais—who eventually won the Vietnam stop of the SEA V Cup—with Alas Women even forcing a decider before falling, 17-25, 25-19, 15-25, 25-18, 10-15, in their Leg 1 encounter.
Flexing its might, Team Thailand nailed 18 attacks in the first set, while Alas Women only had seven, and scored only most on the Thais' errors.
Sitting on a 1-0 set lead, Thailand showed how to dominate from the service line, firing four aces in their first 10 points of Set 2 en route to the win.
Sasipapron Janthawisut, Leg 1 MVP of the regional tourney, led the charge for the home squad, tallying 10 points on eight attacks, one block, and an ace, while Pimpichaya Kokram tied that scoring output as well.

No Filipina breached twin-digit scoring, as Niña Ytang scored eight points built on six attacks and two blocks, while Alyssa Solomon added six markers, which came all from attacks.
The Philippines has a chance to bounce back, but will face a tough Vietnam squad on Saturday, 2 p.m.
