MANILA — The buildup for the Aichi-Nagoya 20th Asian Games continues for the Philippine women's national volleyball team.
The Alas Pilipinas Women training pool, led by captain Jia de Guzman and supervised by Japanese coach Taka Minowa, has trained for three days already.
Joining the training are de Guzman, Dawn Catindig, Jen Nierva, Dell Palomata, Thea Gagate, Mars Alba, Justine Jazareno, Bella Belen, Vanie Gandler, Erika Santos, Eya Laure, Nina Ytang, Alyssa Solomon as well as collegiate standouts Arah Panique, Shaira Jardio, Celine Marsh and Vange Alinsug.

Shaina Nitura is still part of the pool, but is recovering from surgery. Fifi Sharma, Angel Canino Amie Provido and Alleiah Malaluan have yet to train with the national team.
Gel Cayuna, who saw action during Nxled's PVL on Tour showdown against Creamline last night, reportedly begged off from national team duties.

Ahead ofthe Asian Games, Alas Women, currently handled by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) following the suspension of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF), will play first in the SEA V Cup in Ninh Binh, Vietnam, from August 1 to 3 and Week 2 in Chang Mai, Thailand from August 7 to 9.
The Asiad is scheduled for September 19-October 4 in Japan.
