POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato — Chenie Tagaod was happy to showcase her talents in front of fellow Mindanaoans in the 2026 PVL on Tour.
Tagaod shone with a game-high 19 points on 11 attacks, six blocks, and two aces, leading Akari past Choco Mucho in a grueling four-set battle, 27-25, 27-25, 21-25, 25-22, on Saturday at the Polomolok Gymnasium here.
The Far Eastern University product, who hails from Tagum City, beamed with pride as she showed “what a Bisaya can do” in front of her compatriots.
“Siyempre, sobrang happy ako na napakita ko sa mga Bisaya kung ano’ng merong talent ‘yung isang Bisaya rin,” Tagaod told reporters after the match.

Tagaod was extra motivated as she was also supported by her family, with her father and her sibling seeing her play in-person.
“Siyempre, inspired ako ngayon kasi nakita ko ‘yung papa ko tsaka ‘yung kapatid ko. So, sana naging proud sila,” said the former Lady Tamaraw.
She even had an inspiring message to those who aspires to play professional one day: “So lahat ng mga nagdi-dream na mag-PVL, huwag niyo lang kalimutan lahat ng sacrifices at tiyaga niyo, magbubunga at magbubunga rin.”
With a win under their belt, Tagaod and Akari will cap their PVL on Tour campaign against PLDT on August 15.
