Alas Pilipinas Women at the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup. AVC photoCANDON, Ilocos Sur — The road to the 2026 AVC Women’s Cup Final Four tightened, and Alas Pilipinas needs more than a win to advance.
To keep themselves in the hunt and currently have seven points, the Nationals have to triumph over Chinese Taipei in Pool A of the Candon-hosted tournament in three or four sets on Thursday, and they also need South Korea to sweep its next two assignments — Australia and Chinese Taipei.
If this happens, the Philippines will be in a better position to advance to the semifinals.

Veterans on the team, Alyssa Valdez and Ara Galang, who are also popularly known as “GaDez,” vowed to give their all in their Thursday game in the 12-nation tournament presented by the Philippine Sports Commission and the City of Candon headed by Mayor Eric D. Singson.

“At this point, siguro, ibibigay din namin talaga ‘yung lahat namin. Ang dami naming natutunan, pinag-aralan, so sana buong puso naming haharapin namin ‘yung laban namin sa Thursday,” said Valdez.
“Best effort pa rin, bigay lang namin ‘yung best namin, ‘yung makakaya namin. Tapos ‘yun, susubukan namin talaga lahat ng makakaya namin,” said Galang.
