MANILA — After drafting its franchise player in Bella Belen last year, Capital1 is set to acquire another volleyball standout after landing the second overall pick of the 2026 PVL Rookie Draft.
The Solar Spikers had 40 percent odds of getting the top pick—the highest among the four teams in the lottery—but luck was not entirely on their side this time.

Still, co-owner Mandy Romero was looking forward to bolstering further their roster. With the second overall pick, they look to usher in "a new era" of the Solar Spikers with three-time UAAP MVP Belen and MVPs Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos at the helm.
Hopefully, they eventually become a championship contender, said Romero on Monday after the conclusion of the draft lottery held at the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong City.

"Of course, we're very, very happy. I think talagang meant to be na we're entering this new year of Capital1 and we really hope that everyone joins us in all of our ride," she said.
"We've had a lot of changes in the off-season at sana talaga this next draft naman will bring together all the passion, the grit, and the fire that we need to be a champion contender, 'yon talaga yung dream namin."
Romero has high hopes regarding their upcoming newest piece, scheduled to be selected on June 3.
"We’re looking for someone who can bring leadership to our team and also bring the much-needed firepower that pagpasok pa lang nila on the court, they’re ready to be part of this team, they’re ready and very determined to achieve our new heights together," said Romero, also Department of Energy Assistant Secretary.
