CANDON -- Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos, Premier Volleyball League (PVL) MVPs from Cignal, are taking their time to decide on what's next for their careers.
This was after Cignal management's decision to take a leave of absence from the league.
Gandler, crowned MVP of the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference, said that she's hoping to find a new team that would improve her further.
"I need to find a team na, at this stage of my career, is going to help me get even further. That’s what I’m hoping for," said Gandler.
As she soaks in the painful development, Santos hopes to seek a team that would trust her, just like Cignal did.
"Hindi pa talaga nagsi-sink in. Nasa stage pa ako na nagpa-process so siguro, kailangan ko munang mag-reflect sa mga napagdaan at hahanap ng bagong team Siyempre du’n ako sa magtititwala sa ’kin," said the 2025 On Tour MVP.
"Thankful ako kasi naipakita ko ‘yung true self ko sa kanila. Hindi ako nahirapang mag-adjust and ‘yung transition from my past team tapos sila agad ‘yung nakasama ko," she added. "Sobrang okay sa feeling na mag-work ka and at the same time, may family ka and sisters. Sobrang thankful ako sa Cignal."
For veteran libero Dawn Catindig, she aspires a team culture that would fit her, amid processing Cignal's PVL exit.
"For me naman na medyo matagal na sa pros, very important sa ’kin ‘yung team culture sa susunod kong pupuntahan. I’m taking my time in my decision kasi ang hirap pa rin maka-move on kasi very fresh pa rin kaya I’m just taking my time," said Catindig.
Seasoned setter Gel Cayuna and middle blocker Jackie Acuna once believed that they would retire in Cignal, but now, it became a wish that won't likely come true at all.
"Medyo fresh lang din po ‘yung nangyari so binibigyan ko po muna ‘yung sarili ko ng time kasi sobrang sakit din po for me kasi na-imagine po na sa Cignal na ako magre-retire, first and last. Pero ayun po, kung saan man po ako mapupunta, du’n po sa tingin kong makakatulong sa ’min," said Acuna.
"Tingin ko nga rin sa Cignal na ako magre-retire pero nangyari na ‘yung nangyari. Kailangan ding mag-move on. Sa ngayon, pina-process pa namin talaga," Cayuna shared.
