The Akari Chargers. PVL Media BureauMANILA — Akari finally notched its first win in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.
The Chargers broke through after dealing Nxled its second loss in a row, 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22, on Tuesday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.
"Hopefully, 'di ba yung chemistry namin today, ma-carry over namin sa mga next games, kasi alam naman natin di maganda 'yung start namin," said coach Tina Salak during the postgame interview.
"At least may opportunity, marami pang chance para maayos namin at mas maganda pa 'yung maging result namin even sa ibang games pa," she added.
They lost three straight to start the conference, while the Chameleons were coming from a shock defeat at the hands of the Galeries Tower Highrisers last time around.
The Chargers overcame a Set 3 loss, squandering a 22-20 lead that frame that allowed the Chameleons get on the board.

Salak's cogs made up for it, sealing the next frame—this time, not letting up the other side mount a comeback.
In Set 4, Lyann de Guzman made up for a Brooke Van Sickle attack error, as Eli Soyud's attack attempt sailed out, which made Nxled closer, 23-21.
However, Soyud made up for her error with an into-the-block kill, 24-21. Van Sickle's off-speed kill gave life into Nxled, but Ced Domingo's combination play with Mars Alba got the job done, closing out the game in more than two hours.

"Sa akin naman, 'yung mindset ko ngayon is nag-iba siya, kasi siguro mas naging malawak. So for me, 'yung pressure kasi… hindi magkakaroon ng pressure kung hindi mo siya iisipin," said Ivy Lacsina, who top-scored with 20 attacks points to go with 10 excellent receptions.
Domingo followed with 17 points built on 14 attacks, two blocks, and an ace, while Alba made the plays with 22 excellent sets, earning Player of the Game nod.
Also breaching double digits was Soyud (13 points) and Grethcel Soltones (12 points).
On the other hand, three-time MVP Van Sickle had 16 points, 13 excellent digs, and seven excellent receptions to pace the losing side.
Myla Pablo chipped in 14 points for Nxled, while MJ Phillips, after not playing the last game, tallied 12 markers.
