This, as they swept the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 26-24, 25-23, 25-23, during their Tuesday afternoon clash at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
This was the third straight victory of Nxled in as many games, in turn, giving the Chameleons their best start in franchise history albeit coming in a preseason setting.
Jov Fernandez was hailed with Player of the Game honors after she delivered 14 points — including the game-winning kill — on 13 attacks and an ace, while EJ Cariño scored a game-high 16 markers, one of which came as match point in the third, on 14 attacks.
On the other hand, this Nxled victory sent Galeries Tower to its third straight loss, also in as many assignments.
It was a tied game at 23 late in the third frame, with the Highrisers looking to force a fourth set by charging a 5-2 spurt after being down 21-18.
However, the Chameleons would quickly regain their footing as Cariño and Fernandez delivered off-the-block kills to seal the victory and avoid an extension.
Prior to this, Nxled faced a nine-point deficit earlier in the contest, but they completed their comeback bids both in the first and second periods for a 2-to-nothing lead.
Leading Galeries Tower in the close loss was Jewel Encarnacion and her 15 points on 14 attacks and an ace, while her fellow former UAAP standout Jean Asis followed with 11 markers.
