CANDON, Ilocos Sur – Candon City will be bidding to host the 2026 AVC Women's Nations Cup, according to AVC and PNVF President Ramon Suzara.
Suzara bared the development Saturday during the press conference for the ongoing 2025 SEA Men's V.League here, with Mayor Eric Singson in attendance.
The Philippines has been hosting international volleyball competitions — from the men's division to women's side — such as the Volleyball Nations League, AVC Nations Cup, and the SEA V.League, continuing the push for "volleyball tourism."
"[The PNVF] will send the official letter of intent to AVC headquarters without me knowing it. But we are bidding to host the AVC Women’s Nations Cup next year from June 6 to 13. So yun ang date na naka-schedule next year," said the AVC chief.

If approved, Candon will share the hosting process with Vigan, with the former being the host for the final matches.
"Dito ang main event. So, kahit na maghati ang six-six na teams, dahil 12 teams kasi yun, but the quarterfinals, the semifinals, finals match will be here in Candon City," he said.

In September 5, the AVC board will meet in Bangkok, Thailand to finalize the calendar of events for next year, said Suzara.
The soon-to-rise Candon airport — which will be operating domestically, according to Singson — will help with the logistics and transportation aspects of hosting.
Its completion target is next year, just in time for the Nations Cup.
"We need to improve that to accommodate teams. Of course, nasabi kanina ni Mr. Suzara na if we can have the airplanes bringing down the teams to here, it will be easier for all the teams that will be coming in. We will try our best to rush our airport," said Singson.
Singson said the city government will ask the help of Department of Transportation (DOTr) to hasten the community airport's construction.
"It’s under construction, but I will try to ask the DOTr to help me out and do our part also as the LGU to manage the airport construction para mabilis yung pagkagawa," said the local chief executive.
The press conference ended with a ceremonial turnover of an FIVB worlds jacket and a memento from Suzara to Singson.
