MANILA – Nxled had the best chance of landing the best-of-the-best talent in the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft at 40 percent.
But fate had other plans, as the Chameleons eventually settled for the fourth spot, with Capital1 securing the top overall pick in the PVL Lottery held on Monday.
Possibly drafting Bella Belen — widely regarded as the best among the 60-strong class of aspirants in the upcoming exercise — slipped from their hands.

In all three draws, including the selection for the second and third picks, Nxled had the better odds of securing those spots. And the rest was history.
Asked for a reaction, Nxled team manager Dzi Gervacio said it was nerve-wracking for her, but acknowledged that the exercise is, after all, still a lottery.
"It's crazy. Oh my God. Nanginginig ako. But, yeah, again, you know, coming to today's lottery, you know, at the back of my head, it is still a lottery," said Gervacio.
"You know, the chances, you never know what could happen," she added.
The team is looking at the silver linings, seeking to snatch a rookie who could help them improve the franchise's identity and performance for the upcoming PVL season.

Gervacio added that she's "happy" for the teams that had better placements in the lottery.
"But I'm so happy also for the other representatives. And again, di ba, before we started this whole draft night, it was already what Commissioner Sherwin [Malonzo] said.
"It's, you know, we do this draft for parity, for the league to level up, and this is what we do," she said.
