MANILA, Philippines – Gia Day, Petro Gazz's import for the AVC Women's Champions League, expressed desire to return to the PVL champion team one day.

Day, 26, was the core of Petro Gazz's offense in the Asian tournament, firing a total of 71 points across games since the pool phase — second among all players at the conclusion of the quarterfinals.

While they didn't emerge with a semifinal appearance after losing to Beijing Baic Motor in the knockout quarterfinal on Friday, 29-31, 25-19, 25-20, 20-25, 12-15, Day said she hopes to be with the team again once more.

"For sure, for sure. The girls are so much fun, the culture is so fun. I know the season’s a very weird time, the import season. But I hope one day, for sure to return," she said. "Definitely, it’s in my future plans. If they’ll have me."

The American reinforcement said she was proud of everyone's efforts tonight, but the loss made her "angry" because that hard work didn't turn out into a positive result.

"I’m very angry right now because I think that the girls did really enough for us to win. I could have kept it up in the last sets, but I’m really proud of how everyone worked so hard," she said.

For Day, she just had played the "most fun game" despite the loss.

"It just brought tears to my eyes because the girls wanted it so bad and they had so much fun, this was like the most fun game I’ve ever played in. So I’m very thankful for them," said Day, who turned emotional as she reflected on the game.
