PVL Media BureauMANILA, Philippines – Down two sets to one, Akari regrouped to turn back Farm Fresh, 25-11, 23-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-9, in the qualifying round to book a quarterfinals ticket in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference, Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.
Star spiker Ivy Lacsina stepped up for the Chargers, registering 22 points on 21 attacks and one block including four excellent digs and four excellent receptions to earn the Player of the Game citation.
She had a lot of help from her peers, led by Eli Soyud who dropped 14 points on 10 attacks, while Grethcel Soltones immediately made her presence felt in her first game back from an injury by tallying 11 points — some of those done in the crucial moments in the latter frames.
Camille Victoria also chipped in 10 for Akari's scoring. Team captain Michelle Cobb, who previously suffered an injury, tallied 18 excellent sets in her return as the team's main playmaker.
Meanwhile, the Foxies dropped into the play-in tournament, joining Chery Tiggo and Nxled in Pool B.
High-flying Trisha Tubu headlined the losing Farm Fresh side with 23 attack points, while Alyssa Bertolano, who was the other Foxy in double-digit scoring, added 13.
