PLDT denied Creamline's reverse sweep bid, 30-28, 25-21, 23-25, 18-25, 16-14, in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Remarkably, this marked the High Speed Hitters' third straight triumph over the PVL powerhouse across several conferences.
The Rald Ricafort-coached squad also dealt the Cool Smashers first loss since August 2024, as it halted the grand slam champions' nine-game unbeaten run this volleyball tourney.
They also bucked the exit of captain Kath Arado, who was assisted off a court through a wheelchair.
A lot of heroes for the PLDT side, but as usual, it was Fil-Canadian star spiker Savi Davison who dealt the most damage, tallying 34 points on 29 attacks and five blocks and did her part in the defense, nabbing a total of 17 excellent receptions.
Middle blocker Majoy Baron listed 15 points, open hitter Fiola Ceballos had 14 points to go with 16 excellent digs, while Mika Reyes and Erika Santos chipped in 12 and 11 for the PLDT scoring, respectively.
Angge Alcantara pulled the strings for the triumphant squad, registering 21 excellent sets.
Double MVP Bernadeth Pons of Creamline, meanwhile, was a bright spot for the Creamline squad as she breached 20-point territory with 23 anchored on 20 attacks.
Another MVP in Tots Carlos had 16 points, while Jema Galanza and Bea de Leon had 11 points each.
