MANILA — A 14-person Alas Pilipinas Women's team hopes to end a two-decade medal drought in the upcoming 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand.
Sharing that cause, as included in the list by the Philippine Olympic Committee, are veterans led by national team skipper Jia De Guzman (Creamline), liberos Dawn Catindig (Cignal) and Justine Jazareno (Akari), and blockers Dell Palomata (PLDT) and Maddie Madayag (Choco Mucho).
Also in the list are young and promising spikers Bella Belen (Capital1), Shaina Nitura (Adamson University), Angel Canino (De La Salle University), Japan-based Alyssa Solomon, Alleiah Malaluan (PLDT), as well as Lady Spikers' middle blocker Amie Provido.

Seasoned spikers Vanie Gandler of Cignal and free agent Eya Laure, and Akari setter Mars Alba will be supplementing the offense of the Filipinas.
Once again, they will be guided by mentor Jorge de Brito, who led Alas Women to a breakthrough in the AVC Nations Cup this year and several other podium finishes.
Missing in the Alas Final 14 are Akari's Fifi Sharma and Jen Nierva, who have been staples on the national squad in recent memory, as well as Thea Gagate of Zus Coffee and Leila Cruz of Capital1.
Three-time PVL Most Valuable Player Brooke Van Sickle, who was reportedly part of the original pool for the biennial meet, also did not make the cut.
The lineup is as of December 4 and will be updated if there are changes.
