MANILA — Petro Gazz's championship celebration was a family affair on Sunday night, as head coach Gary Van Sickle, deputy coach Lisa Van Sickle, and ace player Brooke Van Sickle all shared a moment to revel in their latest feat—ruling the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
The Van Sickle family proved to be a pivotal piece to the franchise's fourth overall championship, third in Reinforced Conferences, as Gary and Lisa—the head coach and deputy coach—supervised the squad, and Brooke was there to provide the team the lethal scoring it needed.
In just their first conference, Gary and Lisa are already PVL champions, and they saw their daughter win a third MVP—joining an elite club of Creamline's Alyssa Valdez and Tots Carlos.

"We started off a little slow, but we battled in the second. A couple of times, there were times when I thought we had a little doubt, but the girls just kept focused, stayed together, and kept their unity. We just chipped away at it," said coach Gary.
For the Van Sickle patriarch, he was just happy to mentor Brooke again after a decade and win it altogether.
"Somebody on their phone showed me a picture of, I think it was when she was maybe 16, who won, like, a championship in a tournament, and it was, like, a then and now. So it's kind of like, how many years has that been? 10, 12 years ago, maybe. And it's just, yeah, it's fun being here.
From watching on television to mentoring her, it was just a satisfying moment for the father.

"We're always watching Petro Gazz play all the games. Sometimes we're up at 2, 3 in the morning watching it. But we felt, you know, a connection with this team. So coming here with the opportunity that we had, it was just, we didn't hesitate. We took it, and it's been, it worked out well, I think," said Gary.
For the now-three-time MVP, she was just grateful that her parents were here not just to support, but to get them on board for the team.
"Last time they [coached me] was, what, 10 years ago, almost. So, it's just awesome to have them here. I'm super grateful that management had them come on board with Petro Gazz, and it's just awesome to be able to have them here, not only as my coaches because I'm familiar with them, but also just to have family around," said Brooke.
