MANILA – Riccardo Marchioli has been appointed as new assistant coach of the Philippine Women's National Football Team, the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) announced on Friday.
The announcement comes ahead of the Filipinas' title defense in the ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup 2025 next week.
The PFF said Marchioli's appointment is "set to significantly enhance the Filipinas' strategic capabilities, bringing a wealth of elite-level experience and a fresh perspective cultivated across diverse high-performance environments."
"We would like to welcome a new and valuable addition to the Filipinas’ coaching staff, Riccardo Marchioli. Riccardo’s unique blend of experience – from contributing to an Olympic gold medal to his hands-on success in building and transforming football programs – is exactly what we need as we continue our ambitious journey. His understanding of high-stakes environments and his commitment to cultural excellence will be a tremendous asset to the Filipinas,” PFF president John Gutierrez said.

Marchioli has an A License from the Asian Football Confederation and diplomas in Managerial Economics and Sports Development.
"His expertise is deeply rooted in strategic leadership, high-performance coaching, and a keen understanding of talent development. Notably, Marchioli is adept in data analysis, KPIs and tactical intelligence, and has a strong foundation in AI & technology integration, skills that promise to bring an analytical edge to the team's preparations," the PFF said.

Marchioli's scouting contributions played a role in the USA Women's Team winning the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
He was also recently senior football head coach for the Hume City Football Club. Marchioli was also head ccoach and manager for the Bentleigh Greens Soccer Club and a tenure as A-League assistant coach, youth head coach and academy director and head of analysis and individual development coach with the Newcastle Jets Football Club.
Before that, Marchioli was A-League head of analysis for Melbourne Victory Football Club and general manager and head coach for Brunswich City Soccer Club.

Filipinas head coach Mark Torcaso welcomed Marchioli's appointment.
"Riccardo's analytical expertise and his ability to integrate technology into player development and tactical planning are incredibly valuable. PFF said Marchioli's appointment is "effective immediately" and he will be integral to the Filipinas' preparations for the ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup, the 33rd Southeast Asian Games and the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2026.
