MANILA (UPDATED) — University of the Philippines closed out its UAAP Season 87 campaign in a victorious fashion.
This, after the UP Streetdance Club ruled the collegiate division of this year's Streetdance Competition on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
With their magic-themed routine, the Season 87 hosts earned 89.33 points to bring home the gold and conclude their hosting duties with a bang.
"Actually, matagal na namin tinatry eh, na mag-champion," said UP head coach Ariel Alba, whose team got 44.80 points in the artistic category and 44.60 points for their execution.
"Ang galing lang din talaga ng mga schools ngayon. Iba na yung laban talaga, so kailangan mag-prepare nang mas maaga para mas makapag-isip ng bagong piyesa at maging pulido ang lahat. Sana ito na yung start ng dynasty," he added.
This was State U's fourth street dance title — also its first since their three-peat from 2013 to 2016 — and the win tied them with De La Salle University Dance Company for the most championships in UAAP streetdance history.

Coincidentally, closely following was University of Santo Tomas — the hosts of Season 88 — as their Zombie-inspired performance gave them 88.57 points.
UST Prime got 43.84 points in artistry and 44.20 points in execution to secure their silver finish.

At No.3 was La Salle which received 86.17 points.
The DLSU Dance Company, with their nature-inspired routine, made the podium all thanks to their 42.20 points in artistry and 43.04 points in execution.
Completing the list are: Far Eastern University Street Alliance with 85.83 points, Ateneo de Manila University (83.83), National University Dance Company (81.87), Adamson University Dance Company (81.30), and University of the East's UExtreme Squad (71.00).
Meanwhile, National University-Nazareth School topped the high school ranks after its hip-hop-themed routine.

Ateneo de Manila University ranked No.2 in the HS level with 80.97 points, while Adamson University placed third with 78.57 points.
