Manny Pacquiao's former trainer and cornerman Jonathan Peñalosa Sr. passed away after succumbing to colon cancer last Monday.
He was 57.
Peñalosa was the brother of former world champions Dodie Boy and Gerry Peñalosa.
He was a former WBC International flyweight champion before becoming a boxing trainer.
Pacquiao paid a heartfelt tribute to Peñalosa by posting an online video remembering his trainer.
“Rest in peace Coach Jonathan Peñalosa. Hindi lang kita naging coach, naging kapatid kita sa laban at sa buhay,” said Pacquiao in the accompanying caption.
Peñalosa’s wake is being held at their family home in San Carlos City.
