MANILA – The TNT Tropang 5G is reuniting with Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson, after he was tapped to reinforce the team in the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup.
The elder Hollis-Jefferson is the brother of TNT's resident import Rondae, who is still recovering from an Achilles injury.
Rahlir is replacing import Darius Days, who produced 10 points and four rebounds in what would be his final game for TNT on Tuesday.
PBA PhotoDays averaged 16 points and 4.5 rebounds after playing four games this conference.
"Darius is not the Darius Days that we had two years ago. He’s completely overweight, out of shape and I think it shows in his game and it affects the play of our locals," TNT head coach Chot Reyes said after their 110-107 win over the Converge FiberXers on Tuesday.
According to a report on the PBA website, TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa said the elder Hollis-Jefferson is already in town.
Rahlir last played for TNT in the 2023-24 Commissioner’s Cup, when he came in to replace his brother after Rondae went down with an injury.
The younger Hollis-Jefferson is expected to join the Tropang 5G later by October, when the Governors' Cup resumes after pausing for the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers and 20th Asian Games.
Rahlier will most likely play his first game on Saturday, when TNT takes on the San Miguel Beermen at the Mall of Asia Arena.
