PBA Images.MANILA — The Converge FiberXers demolished the Titan Ultra Giant Risers, 105-74, for a winning debut in Group A of the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal.
Converge led by as many as 32 points, with Jalen Hudson stuffing the stat sheet with 20 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
"Yung chemistry ng mga bata compared the last conference, medyo um-okay na kami," said FiberXers head coach Delta Pineda, who highlighted his team's 28 assists compared to the Giant Risers' 19.
Justine Arana contributed 14 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while Archie Concepcion paced the locals with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field for Converge, which trailed only at 1-0 before taking control for good.
"Maganda yung nilaro ng buong team, so credit talaga sa teammates ko," said Arana as the FiberXers shot 51.7% (31-of-60) from inside the arc.
On the other hand, Bryan Sajonia and Fran Yu were the lone bright spots for Titan Ultra, finishing with 14 points apiece.
King Caralipio chipped in 10 points, while Ato Ular added nine, but their efforts were not enough as the Giant Risers shot a woeful 28.7% (27-of-94) from the field.
Adding to Titan Ultra's woes, the Giant Risers set a PBA record for the most missed three-pointers in a half after going 0-of-17 from beyond the arc in the opening 24 minutes.
