FIBA Basketball.MANILA — Quentin Millora-Brown and Mike Phillips wore different colors the last time they shared the floor, but the former UAAP rivals are now expected to link up for Gilas Pilipinas in the next window of the 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Millora-Brown is coming off his second stint with Gilas — one that unfortunately ended winless for the former University of the Philippines big man — but the prospect of teaming up with the ex-De La Salle University star has him excited.
“His energy is amazing,” said Millora-Brown, who finished with 11 points and seven rebounds in their 93-66 loss to Australia on Sunday.

Calling the 6-foot-10 center familiar with the one-time UAAP Finals MVP would be an understatement. The two previously battled head-to-head in the Season 87 Finals, where Millora-Brown and the Fighting Maroons emerged victorious.

“I think he’ll bring great effort to us. He’ll bring really good defensive energy, a really hard roller and a really great screener, so I think there’s a lot to look forward to there,” he said.
Meanwhile, Millora-Brown said he will focus on improving after this latest window, especially as his perspective broadened following battles against the world-class big men of Australia and New Zealand.
“I really figured out where I fit well, where I can score, and of course, defensively, that’s always there,” he said. “So it’s just continuing to push those things, trying to get our shooters open, get them to their comfort zones so they can feel confident when they shoot.”
“It’s an honor to be able to represent. Only 12 guys get the opportunity each window to represent,” he added. “I really take pride in being able to do that, and I am excited about the team’s future and growth.”
