Ahead of the league’s Season 50 and its annual preseason proceedings which include the Draft Combine and the Rookie Draft, the NorthPort franchise was reportedly sold for P90 million to Pureblends.
However, the PBA clarified that the sale is yet to be final, and that it is expected for the NorthPort name to remain at least until the September 7 Draft at the Mall of Asia Music Hall.
“The representative of Pureblends yesterday submitted its letter of intent and other key requirements in its bid to acquire the NorthPort franchise,” the league said on Wednesday. “The documents are now in the possession of the review committee tasked to make recommendations on the reported sale.”
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial also reiterated that the sale is yet to reach a finalization.
"Wala pang final. Yung letter of intent and other documents pinasa namin sa review committee. Sila ang gagawa ng recommendation," he said.
NorthPort holds the sixth overall pick in the Season 50 Draft on Sunday.
