Back in town for his second stint with Strong Group-Pilipinas, the 6-foot-7 American shared his sentiments for his ex-team, saying that they are even capable of doing more.
“I’m so happy for them, and I’m excited for what the future holds,” he said during Strong Group’s media availability on Wednesday in Manila. “They finally got what they deserved.”
Leading OKC in their seven-game series against the Indiana Pacers was 2025 NBA Season and Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, with the Canadian ace putting up 30.3 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.6 rebounds in the championship stage.

But Roberson won't deny that he is surprised at how early Gilgeous-Alexander was able to lead Oklahoma City to a title.
“I knew he was capable of leading, and he was always a great guy, but in terms of winning a championship this early? I didn’t expect it,” said Roberson, who played for the Thunder from 2013 until 2020. “But, I’m so happy that they did.”
OKC is expected to banner an intact roster next season and will even field promising 6-foot-6 guard Nikola Topic who sat out the previous year due to an injury.
This is why for Roberson, the Thunder can get even much scarier.
“They have such a great team, they’ll pretty much bring back everybody, so hopefully, they can do it again,” he said. “They have the chance to do something special in terms of creating their own dynasty, they have all the tools.”
On a lighter note, Roberson was also asked whether their 2016 squad that featured the likes of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and Serge Ibaka could beat SGA and company in a seven-game series, but he refused to give a definite answer.
“I’m biased, but I wouldn’t choose. It’s two different teams from different eras,” he said.
