The Goyang Sono Sono Skygunners ace will be flying to the United States for a training camp there, and this is to bolster his bid to become the first-ever homegrown hooper to enter the NBA.

The De La Salle University product also recently signed a fresh three-year extension with his Korean Basketball League (KBL) team, as he was able to impress there despite only appearing in limited games due to a right ankle injury which he suffered in his debut.
”Bitin,” said the 24-year-old during his adidas Adizero Select 3.0 Player Edition (PE) ‘KQ63’ launch last Wednesday in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

“Twenty-three games lang yung nilaro ako, so excited ako na merong buo [next season],” he added.
The two-time UAAP MVP and one-time champion dazzled in his first year in the professional ranks, putting up 16.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 23 games for Goyang Sono in the 2024-25 season.
Quiambao also showed flashes of his dominant self there, posting a 31-point, 11-rebound game in their win over Wonju Dongbu Promy last March 1, as well as a 12-point, 18-assist performance on top of eight rebounds in another victory last February 26 against Jeonju KCC Egis.
But while the 6-foot-6 superstar is continuing to thrive in overseas hoops, Quiambao insists that his stint with Gilas Pilipinas will always be a top priority for him.
“Always ako sa Gilas,” emphasized the Muntinlupa native, who had previoulsy received a naturalization offer from the United Arab Emirates and play for their National team in 2024.

“Never kong ipag-papalit yung Gilas sa kahit anong team. I’m very, very thankful na may opportunity ako na to play sa Gilas, always,” he added.
Quiambao and the rest of Gilas will return to action later this year for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup in August, and the 2027 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers which opens in November.
