"Ash, your jersey was #21, but to us, you were one of one. On and off the field you gave everything. We’ll miss your smile, your warmth, and the quiet strength you brought into every room and every game. We are very proud of you," Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Basketball said.

MANILA — Ashlyn Abong of the National University Lady Bullpups and Gilas Pilipinas Girls has passed away. She was 18.

Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Basketball announced the tragic development on Saturday morning in a Facebook post.

The squad, in the same post, penned a parting message to the kind soul.

"In loving memory of our teammate and friend Ashlyn Abong #21. Quiet, kind, and strong — that was Ash. She may not have said much, but she always said hi first. That small act meant everything. It showed her heart — gentle, thoughtful, and always looking out for others," the team said.

"Ash, your jersey was #21, but to us, you were one of one. On and off the field you gave everything. We’ll miss your smile, your warmth, and the quiet strength you brought into every room and every game. We are very proud of you," it continued.

According to Gilas Women program director Patrick Aquino, as reported by the Tiebreaker Times, the 5-foot-11 center collapsed while training at their school.

The school's medical team tried to revive her and brought her to the hospital for care, but she did not make it.

Abong also participated in NU Lady Bullpups' campaign at UAAP Season 87, where they finished second place.
