MANILA -- Robert Bolick put together his best performance of the conference to propel NLEX to a 92-83 win over Titan Ultra, Sunday evening at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Bolick fired 36 points on 11-of-19 shooting along with 10 assists and five rebounds as the Road Warriors avoided an upset against the Giant Risers. He scored 17 in the fourth quarter alone.
The result gave them a 6-2 win-loss record -- good for a share of the lead in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
"Kailangan namin ang panalo na 'to eh. Dikit-dikit sa standings, so bigay lang namin ang best namin," said Bolick after the game.
The guard nailed the biggest shot of the game with 64 seconds left, drilling the go-ahead three-pointer for an 86-83 NLEX advantage.
Before his shot, the Giant Risers had erased a slim deficit as Joshua Munzon's transition layup off a Calvin Abueva assist knotted the count at 83.
Titan Ultra faltered down the stretch, however. A fastbreak bucket by Dominic Fajardo off a dime by Bolick made it a five-point game, 88-83, with 43 seconds to go and the Giant Risers wilted from there.
JB Bahio backed up Bolick with a 20-point, 12-rebound double-double.
Squandered in the loss was Abueva's 27-point, 15-rebound effort, though "The Beast" also accounted for eight of Titan Ultra's 20 turnovers in the game.
The Giant Risers fell to 2-6 in the conference.
