MANILA — The NLEX Road Warriors have secured the services of veteran forward Sidney Onwubere, signing the former free agent to a two-conference contract.
The move significantly strengthens the Road Warriors roster as they continue their strong run in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup.
The 6-foot-4 pro from Emilio Aguinaldo College brings eight years of PBA experience to Jong Uichico’s squad.
Onwubere, who was drafted 8th overall in the 2017 PBA Draft, has previously played for TNT, Rain or Shine, Northport, and Ginebra throughout his career.
"Very happy na makabalik. I’m going back to one of the MVP Group teams, and that makes it more exciting,” said Onwubere, who averaged 5.0 points and 3.4 rebounds across 35 games last season. “Hopefully, I can contribute even a little bit and help NLEX continue their excellent standing.”
The forward also expressed enthusiasm for reuniting with key NLEX stars, point guard Robert Bolick and forward Javee Mocon, both of whom he played with during his previous stints at Northport and Rain or Shine.
“Happy na makasama ko rin 'yung dating teammates ko na sina Robert at Javee,” he shared.
Onwubere is scheduled to make debut this Sunday, November 16, when the NLEX Road Warriors clash with the Magnolia Hotshots at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion Arena.
