MANILA -- University of the Philippines one-and-done big man Quentin Millora-Brown has nothing but good words for graduating playmaker JD Cagulangan for leading them to a men's basketball championship in UAAP Season 87.
After the game, Millora-Brown was all praised for Cagulangan and his leadership, who was named Finals Most Valuable Player.
"What a guy. He's just always trying to talk to guys, get them in the right mindset. So today, we went into it and he was like, we're going to find a way to win no matter what. And that's what we did," Millora-Brown told reporters.
The 6-foot-10 cager attributed their success to their hard work and dedication to bring back the title to Diliman.
"It was just everyday work for all of us. Everybody just kept improving throughout the season and you know, here we are," Millora-Brown said.
"I'm so proud [of my teammates]. All the work we put in the season, all of the setbacks that we faced, just being able to get through it today and get the win, amazing," he shared.
Millora-Brown is glad he ended his only year with UP on a high note.

"You know I think it was the perfect capstone. Right now I think of my lolo and I hope he's smiling down at me with my lola up in heaven. It's the greatest way I could see it ending," he said.
He was referring to his grandfather who recently passed away, Dr. Angel Millora, an alumnus of UP. Dr. Millora was the cager's inspiration to join the state university.
Millora-Brown likewise thanked all the people who supported him in his brief but meaningful journey.
"I thank all of my family, my titos and titas here in the Philippines. My mom, my dad and my sister who flew out. Just all of my family, all the supporters of the UP community, the coaches, everyone," he said.
When asked what's next for him after the UAAP, Millora-Brown did not give a definite answer.
"I don't know. I have people taking care of that back home. But we'll see," he shared.
