The RP Blu Girls have concluded their World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup campaign on a winning note.
The Nationals were successful in turning back Ireland, 4-0, in Dallas, United States to secure a fifth-place finish in Group C of the tourney.
Ireland finished sixth without a single win in the competition.
Philippines' starter Callie Christian starred in the match after pitching a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out six batters.
She also finished with an impressive 2.63 ERA, also shone at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
Mylia Perez added two hits in three at-bats and scored twice, contributing to the team’s strong offensive showing.
However, the Girls missed out on a Finals 2025 appearance as the tilt reached its conclusion. The USA and Canada, which finished first and second respectively in Group C, will be joined by Japan, Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei, Mexico, Czechia, and China.
Reflecting on the team's performance, Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL) President and Cebuana Lhuillier CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier expressed his pride in the Blu Girls.
“I am incredibly proud of our girls for their determination and hard work throughout the tournament. They played with heart and displayed the exceptional talent that Philippine softball has to offer,” Lhuillier said.
“We will be with the girls every step of the way as they prepare for the next World Cup. This experience will only make them stronger and make them grow, as they’ll definitely be back hungry for more.”
