MANILA -- Kaya FC-Iloilo is set to make history as it joins the maiden Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Champions League.
The reigning champions of Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Women's League, headlined by captain Hali Long, were drawn in Group B with Melbourne City (Australia), College of Asian Scholars (Thailand), and winners in Group D of the preliminary stage, joined by Bam Khatoon FC of Iran, Kitchee SC of Hong Kong, and Royal Thimpu College FC of Bhutan.
The draw took place on Thursday at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The country was ranked seventh (1557.58 points) in the member association's placement, which made Kaya eligible for a direct invite.
Among those which are placed higher than the Philippines are Japan (1975.97 points), Australia (1889.99 points), China (1804.37 points), South Korea (1794.29 points), and Vietnam (1611.3 points).
The group stage, which will be contested in a centralized league format, will be held from October 6 to 12. This phase will be hosted by China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The tournament has a $1.3 million champion's purse.
The continental tournament also features a trophy which "blends traditional design with a modern aesthetic," designed and handcrafted by the world-renowned trophy maker Thomas Lyte.
