MANILA ā For Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Most Valuable Player (MVP) Brooke Van Sickle, her award was a reflection of a team effort of the Petro Gazz Angels.
Van Sickle took the league by storm and was hailed MVP in her very first stint in the Philippines. She also helped Petro Gazz to a podium finish coming from a sixth-place finish in the 2023 Second All-Filipino.
"Again, just very grateful for my teammates. It's a six-man sport. I won't be able to do it without them," Van Sickle told reporters after the awarding ceremony on Sunday at the Big Dome.
"It's just icing on top, to be able to do a podium finish, it was good. I thought Chery Tiggo did a fantastic job, we could have potentially played three (games,) but things happened and I'm just happy to help my team," the former US NCAA standout said further.

Her beach volleyball background was also evident as she was seventh in digging (3.10 average per set) and seventh in receptions (35.77 percent efficiency rate).
Reflecting on her first run in the PVL, Van Sickle said she had a "very, very fun time."
"My goal from the start was to be consistent and be there for my teammates just like they are there for me. I hope I achieve my goals. I had a very, very fun time here this conference."
Losing might not be fun, the prolific outside spiker said, but they would have room for growth as they look forward to a better finish next conference.
"When you lose, you learn a lot of lessons. Losing's not fun but it's just exciting to be able to have that room for growth and be able to still be optimistic and seeing the standard of volleyball and everything like that, seeing the type of volleyball in the finals and now, how can we get there and how to get there every day. It was exciting to be able to watch this game tonight and learned a lot of things," said Van Sickle, who also shared her thoughts about the Finals series.
