MANILA — Heavy rainfall, triggered by the habagat or southwest monsoon, is expected to affect Metro Manila and several other provinces in Luzon until Wednesday.
In a weather advisory at 11 p.m., state weather bureau PAGASA said heavy rainfall will affect the following areas starting Monday until Tuesday night:
>100 TO 200 MM
• Metro Manila
• Zambales
• Bataan
• Pampanga
•Bulacan
•Cavite
•Batangas
•Rizal
>50 TO 100 MM
• Pangasinan
•Tarlac
•Laguna
•Quezon
• Occidental Mindoro
Heavy rainfall between 100 to 200 millimeters are also expected over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, and Occidental Mindoro from Tuesday night until Wednesday night.
Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental may experience rainfall between 50-100 millimeters from Tuesday night until Wednesday night.
By Thursday, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro may experience heavy rains, while Metro Manila, Apayao, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Aklan, and Antique may experience between 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall.
PAGASA noted that forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas and impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall.
It also said it is monitoring two low pressure areas inside the Philippine area of responsibility, both of which has “medium” potential of developing into tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

PAGASA earlier said Monday it was monitoring two low pressure areas inside the Philippine area of responsibility.
As of 2 p.m., both LPAs had a “medium” potential to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said.
It said the first LPA, which formed Sunday evening, was located 1,220 km east of southeastern Luzon.The second LPA, which developed Monday afternoon, was spotted 405 km east of Calayan, Cagayan.
PAGASA previously said there was a high probability of a tropical cyclone forming over the Philippine Sea within the week of July 21 to 27.It will be assigned the local name Dante and may enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat.
Twin LPAs spotted inside Philippine area
As of Monday afternoon, the government has already suspended classes in all levels and work in government offices in Metro Manila and nearby provinces due to heavy rains and flooding.
