MANILA — Typhoon Tino slightly weakened as it approaches northern Palawan late Tuesday night.
It earlier made its sixth landfall over Magsaysay town in Cuyo Islands at 7:30 p.m.
At 10 p.m., it was over the coastal waters of Araceli, Palawan.
Tino packs winds of 120 kilometers per hour with gustiness reaching up to 165 kph. It is moving westward at 25 kph.
Wind signal no. 4 remains in effect in northernmost Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.
Signal No. 3 remains hoisted over the northern portion of Palawan, the northeasternmost portion of Aklan and Antique, including Caluya Islands.
Parts of Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Guimaras and Negros Occidental remain under Signal No. 2.
The typhoon may make another landfall over northern Palawan early Wednesday.
Tino may be out of the Philippine area of responsibility late Wednesday or early Thursday.
The typhoon’s very destructive winds, torrential rains, and storm surge exceeding three meters will continue to pose threat to life and property, especially in northern Palawan.
