MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation arrested a 31-year-old woman who allegedly performed invasive cosmetic procedures, including “Jawtox” or Botox injections on the jaw, despite not being a licensed physician.
The suspect was arrested during an entrapment operation conducted by the NBI Organized and Transnational Crime Division (OTCD) at an aesthetic clinic in Cavite City after an undercover agent availed of a package worth P11,500 that included Jawtox, eyebrow microblading, and a glutathione drip.
Authorities discovered that the clinic had no license to operate and that its personnel were not authorized to perform medical procedures. The Food and Drug Administration also confirmed that the glutathione drip the clinic used was not a registered health product.
The suspect is facing charges for Illegal Practice of Medicine, violations of the Philippine Pharmacy Act, and the FDA Act for allegedly using and selling unregistered health products and operating a clinic without the required license.

According to NBI spokesperson Palmer Mallari, Jawtox is intended to relax the jaw muscles and may be used to address temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders while also enhancing facial appearance.
“Kinakailangang lisensyadong doktor o medical professional lamang ang gumawa nito,” Mallari said, adding mistakes during the procedure could have adverse effects.

Mallari also reminded the public to go to licensed clinics, saying training certificates are no substitute for a professional license.
