MANILA — Comedian Rufa Mae Quinto on Tuesday said she was “also a victim” in an alleged scam involving a derma clinic and would “seek justice” as she fought a securities violation case.
Quinto has a warrant of arrest in relation to the case filed by investors against skin care company Dermacare, her lawyer earlier said.
“I have no connection whatsoever to any fraudulent activity and I categorically deny these baseless accusations,” Quinto said.
“If anything, I am also a victim and I am determined to seek justice,” she said in a statement.
Quinto said she would “cooperate fully with the authorities and face this issue through the proper legal forum.”
“Rest assured, I will fight for my name and reputation,” she said.
“To those who have extended their love and support, I am grateful. Let us allow justice to take its course, and I humbly ask for your patience and understanding as the truth unfolds,” she added.
Quinto was charged with 14 counts of violation of Section 8 of the Securities Regulation Code.
Actress-entrepreneur Neri Naig was earlier arrested while attending a convention in Pasay City. She was facing charges of estafa and violation of the Securities Regulation Code after allegedly persuading investors to invest in the same skin care company.
