As they continued walking toward their destination, Gabo (Coco Martin) and his friends encountered another commotion. This time, it involved his longtime nemesis, Django (Jhong Hilario), and his gang, who were harassing a poor family grieving the loss of their patriarch. The family had been unable to lay their loved one to rest due to financial difficulties.
Apparently, Django had been extorting money from them throughout the three-month wake via the “tong” or contributions collected from gamblers. When the widow refused to give him any
money, Django became enraged and threatened to harm them, particularly her son. He then pressured the woman to find a way to pay him, while telling her son to pray that his mother would be able to seek help.
The woman desperately approached Gabo and asked for his help, revealing to him that Django had actually been profiting from her deceased husband’s wake. Gabo’s friends tried to stop him, fearing that they would get into trouble again, but their pleas fell on deaf ears as Gabo fiercely confronted Django.
Django and his henchmen were visibly stunned by Gabo’s presence, especially when he called them out for intimidating and exploiting their poor neighbors in Tondo. Gabo then suddenly challenged them to a fight, determined to find out who among their group was strong enough to survive.
