Upcoming Kapamilya series "Someone, Someday" has been on our radar ever since Kathryn Bernardo and James Reid were announced as its leads in August 2025.

And after almost a year of feeding on teasers and subtle updates, we're so ready for this new primetime obsession that's finally coming to our screens on July 27. Here are five reasons you'll also want to swipe right on "Someone, Someday."
1. A plot with unexpected twists
The story follows Billie Cariño (Kathryn Bernardo), an independent young CEO who launches a dating app called Lovelist to empower women and help them find their perfect match. She still carries the scars of her first heartbreak (from her father), but don't mistake that for bitterness. Billie isn't really a man-hater. She still believes in love—she just takes it seriously and refuses to settle for anything less than the real thing.
The plot gets extra intriguing when she befriends a mysterious fan, Abigail Mercado (Maja Salvador), who, based on the trailer, seems to have a hidden agenda that could jeopardize Billie's career and personal life. Thankfully, Billie doesn't have to face it all alone as she has her reliable and loyal best friend Jordan Valentin (James Reid) through ups and downs.
If you love piecing together clues, this one's for you! "Someone, Someday" is full of surprises with its mix of romance, thrilling suspense and mystery, and a little action that makes every episode more engaging. It's a refreshing concept on primetime. Director Chad Vidanes describes it as having "the best of both worlds," painting the vivid colors of love and the darkness that comes with it.
2. Empowering women in the modern dating world
We also love how the show puts women and their experiences at the center of the story. It gets real about what dating looks like for Pinays today. Through Lovelist, Billie builds a community of progressive women who help each other navigate relationships and everything in between. Add to that, the series challenges the stigma around dating apps as it offers a fresh look at the Filipino modern dating scene.
3. The all-star soundtrack
As we mentioned in this article, James' trademark as a leading man is showcasing his musical side in his teleseryes. So, are we getting a 'harana' scene here? We hope so.
What we're sure of, though, is that music will play an essential role in the storytelling. "Someone, Someday" is accompanied by a star-studded original soundtrack that suffuses its big moments with deeper feels.
It features tracks from James himself, including "Sandal," "Pauwi Na," "Hurt Me Too," and "Pahinga," and viewers can also look forward to hearing Belle Mariano's participation in the teleserye through her song "The Puzzle." The soundtrack also includes Maki's "Abelyana," Angela Ken's "Kulimlim," Bryan Chong's "Sugal," FANA's "Tabla Tayo," and Shaniah Rollo's "Mag-isa Lang Ako."
4. Triple primetime comeback
The powerhouse cast's main trio—Kathryn, James, and Maja—has carved out successful careers in their individual lanes, thus making "Someone, Someday" an exciting mix of three of the industry's brightest stars bringing their distinct acting styles and strengths to one series.

This also marks a primetime comeback for all three, which makes it more special. Kathryn was last seen in a teleserye via "2 Good 2 Be True" in 2022.
James returns to television acting for the first time since "Till I Met You" (2016) after spending much of the past decade focused on his music career. Meanwhile, Maja's most recent television appearance was a special participation in the action-drama series "The Iron Heart" in 2022 before tying the knot with Rambo Nuñez and giving birth to their unica hija, Maria.
5. KathReid is finally happening!
For many viewers, seeing Kathryn and James in one screen is already reason enough to tune in. Fans have been manifesting this crossover ever since the peak of their fame with their respective loveteams more than a decade ago. And even before the project was announced, they have already christened the tandem as KathReid.

Back then, KathReid existed only through fan edits, but now it's officially a reality. Yes, we'd absolutely swipe right! Even Kathryn and James are excited to work together and bring us a fresh story.
It's time to see where this match leads in “Someone, Someday,” also starring Dimples Romana, Rowell Santiago, Rita Avila, McCoy de Leon, Daniela Stranner, and introducing Migs Casimiro.
Directed by Chad V. Vidanes and Dolly Dulu, the series premieres this July 27 on ABS-CBN sa ALLTV, Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live (KOL), TV5 and A2Z. Stream it first on iWant and Netflix.
